Vice President - Legal & Compliance (m,f,d)
Your mission
We’re looking for you to join us as VP Legal & Compliance (m/f/d) – full-time, starting immediately, based at one of our offices (Munich / Berlin) or remotely within Germany in a flexible hybrid setup.
In this key leadership role, you take full responsibility for all legal and regulatory matters in our company – from data privacy and platform regulation to strategic contract negotiations and the leadership of our legal team.
You act as a sparring partner to our C-level leadership, build and scale pragmatic, future-ready legal structures, and develop Legal & Compliance into a true business enabler.
- Strategic Lead: You actively contribute to shaping our legal and compliance strategy and develop a scalable, future-proof legal organization with a strong business focus.
- Leadership & Team Building: You lead and continuously grow a highly qualified and expanding legal team, fostering a strong performance and development culture.
- Legal Business Partner: You advise our executive and leadership teams on legal, regulatory, and strategic matters at eye level, combining sound judgment with actionable insights.
- Platform & Gig Economy Expertise: You bring deep knowledge of regulatory requirements for platforms and freelancers, ensuring legally secure and flexible solutions tailored to our model.
- Compliance & Data Privacy: You are responsible for expanding our Compliance Management System, including ISO certifications, audit processes, and full GDPR compliance.
- Cross-Border Legal Work: You manage complex cross-border legal issues across the European landscape, delivering pragmatic and actionable legal solutions.
- Commercial Contracts: You negotiate complex SaaS, licensing, and partnership agreements with confidence and a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
- Legal Transformation: You drive the evolution of our legal function – through Legal Tech, process optimization, and a clear change mindset.
- Representation & Thought Leadership: You represent our company at industry events, panels, and in public and legal policy discourse, contributing thought leadership to the wider ecosystem.
Your skillset
- Legal Background: You are a fully qualified German lawyer with both state exams – ideally holding a doctorate (PhD or equivalent).
- Experience in Tech: You bring several years of in-house experience in a fast-scaling tech or platform company.
- Leadership: You have a strong leadership track record, including experience in managing other leaders.
- Legal Expertise: You are highly skilled in employment law, data privacy, compliance, risk management, and contract law.
- Regulatory Know-How: You have in-depth understanding of platform and freelancer regulations – ideally from hands-on experience.
- Executive Communication: You confidently operate at C-level, are decisive, and bring a solution-oriented and business-enabling approach.
- Transformation Experience: You’ve successfully guided legal teams through scaling phases – including Legal Tech adoption, process optimization, and ideally have also supported M&A processes, funding rounds, or internal restructurings.
- Networker: Y ou’re well connected in the legal, tech, and startup community and actively contribute to legal innovation and regulatory conversations.
