The Audiovisual Technology Laboratory in Huawei’s Munich Research Center is developing signal processing and machine learning solutions applied to audio, music and speech with the goal to enrich the audio experiences for millions of customers.

Senior Research Engineer – Spatial Audio (m/f/d)

Your mission:

• Conduct applied research in spatial audio technologies, including 3D audio rendering, binaural audio, and immersive sound experiences for various applications
• Design, implement, and optimize systems for spatial audio rendering
• Conduct objective and subjective evaluations to assess the performance of audio systems and algorithms and ensure an extraordinary user experience
• Collaborate with international teams to integrate spatial audio solutions into existing and new products
• Follow industry trends in audio technologies; identify and evaluate new solutions and technologies to be demonstrated to internal stakeholders
• Foster innovation by building and coordinating projects, internal/external collaborations and strategic partnerships

Your areas of expertise:

• PhD. or M.S. in Acoustical or Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Specialization and practical experience in at least one of the following:

1. Audio signal processing for binaural spatial audio, especially individual/personalized binaural spatial audio
2. Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) applied to spatial audio
3. Perception and 3D user experience

• Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to translate user needs into design decisions
• Experience in project management and acting as interface between industry and academia is a plus;
• Independent and well-structured working style with a hands-on, can-do attitude
• Fluency in written and spoken English
