Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) - Surface Chemistry

Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology (check out our DLD Talk or this article to learn more). Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalised medicine to new heights. In 2022 we secured significant funding by SPRIND - Germany’s Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialisation of our nanotechnology.

Your role:
We are looking for a dedicated Technican (m/f/d) to join our innovative biochip team. In this role, you will be an important part of our laboratory operations, with a focus on the production of chemically modified substrates. These samples are used by our application teams for the development of new, innovative products.

Your Mission:

• Conduct surface modification reactions on glass and other substrates for the deposition of polymers and biomolecules.
• Perform quality control analysis of substrates to ensure the consistency and quality of chemical modifications.
• Maintain and monitor the stock of materials to ensure a sufficient supply for ongoing research and development projects.
• Operate and maintain a range of lab equipment and regularly use analytical techniques such as contact angle goniometer, ellipsometer, and AFM .
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records , ensuring all data is properly documented.
• Perform routine lab maintenance, including cleaning and organizing equipment and workspaces.
• Collaborate with researchers to troubleshoot experiments and optimize or develop new laboratory techniques and protocols.
• Participate in team meetings and report on experimental results.

Requirements

Your Profile:

• Training as a technical assistant (e.g. CTA, BTA, etc.), or comparable training.
• At least 1-2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of chemistry techniques and laboratory procedures.
• A proactive and independent working style, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques.
• Having strong focus and reliability in executing experimental work in the laboratory.
• Ability to follow instructions and work according to standardised protocols.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple experiments simultaneously.
• Professional German or English communication skills.

• Experiences with surface functionalisations and/ or surface-initiated polymerization is a plus
