Team Lead Backend Engineering (f,m,d)

We are looking for

As Team Lead Backend Engineering (f,m,d), your leadership will focus on fostering growth, collaboration, and excellence in engineering. You focus on shipping and maintaining our Scala backend services. You are interested in leading the team as well as actively participating in code reviews, creating architecture designs or collaborate in feature planning. Your love for programming will come in handy when you actively work on our code base.

This role is based in Munich, Germany.

Your mission

• Lead and inspire a team of 7 developers, fostering a culture of trust, ownership, and continuous improvement
• Support team members in their personal and professional development through coaching and mentorship
• Actively collaborate on the Scala services together with the team. Participate in feature development, code reviews and architectural discussions
• Drive and manage engineering projects that align with the company's strategic goals
• Continuously improve and optimize development processes to enhance efficiency and quality
• Oversee the maintenance and monitoring of applications developed by your team to ensure reliability and performance
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, and lead their integration where relevant
• Collaborate closely with the product team to deliver exceptional user experiences and high-impact solutions

Your profile

• A genuine passion for developing people and supporting their professional growth
• Experience leading and managing software engineering teams as a line manager or 5+ years of experience in a technical leader role
• Excellent programming skills in Scala or a comparable functional programming language
• Experience with AI for code generation / AI assistet coding
• Proven track record of successfully managing live, customer-facing projects at scale
• Strong interest in software architecture and a deep enthusiasm for technology
• A collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement
• Solid experience working with agile methodologies in a dynamic environment
• Proficiency in one or more of the following technologies: Scala, Java, and cloud hosting with AWS
• Fluency in English, with good communication skills in German
• Most importantly : a strong drive to learn, grow, share your knowledge, and thrive in a team-oriented culture
