Senior Sales Manager (m/f/d)
Your tasks
As a Senior Sales Manager at SMAL, you’re not just a “salesperson”. You’re a strategic door-opener and a trusted advisor. Your focus is on acquiring new clients and identifying high-value opportunities that go beyond simple project-based work. You don’t sell standard solutions; instead, you sell the core of our agency’s DNA: Digital Product Management, Digital Storytelling, and Experience Strategy.
As a Senior Sales Manager, you work closely with Lead Generation and Marketing to identify leads. For concrete opportunities, you manage the proposal process in close coordination with the Business Team, the functional departments, and — for larger proposals— also with the senior management.
Typical Tasks
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: You identify and qualify potential new clients (SME and enterprises) whose challenges align perfectly with our service portfolio.
- Strategic Opportunity Management: You identify opportunities for complex projects in the areas of experience strategy and digital product design and develop compelling proposals based on them.
- C-Level Consulting: You act as a sparring partner for marketing decision-makers, CDOs, and product managers. You understand their business pain points and translate them into value-adding agency services.
- Pitch Lead: You manage the entire sales cycle — from the initial contact through chemistry meetings to the final negotiation. In doing so, you’ll work closely with our specialist departments to present tailored concepts.
- Market & Trend Monitoring: You keep a close eye on the digital landscape and know where new opportunities (e.g., through AI transformation or new platform economies) are emerging.
Key Performance Indicators for the Role
- Growth: Achieving the growth targets of SMAL.
- Profit Margin: Improving the average profit margin (%) and conversion rate (%).
- Business Volume: Increasing the average business volume of existing customers.
- Improving the quality of proposals.
Key Requirements for the Role:
- High level of customer contact and presence at various locations.
- Willingness to travel to our customers (typically 1–2 days per week).
Your skills
- Experience: At least 5–7 years of proven success in sales or business development at a digital agency or consumer products company.
- Domain expertise: You speak the language of digital product design. Terms like product-market fit, customer journey mapping, and brand narrative aren’t just buzzwords to you — they’re everyday tools.
- Closing mindset: You love the thrill of acquisition, stay persistent even during long sales cycles, and confidently close deals.
- Networking skills: You are an excellent communicator with a confident demeanor who knows how to build trust and forge long-term business relationships.
- Language proficiency: You are fluent in both German and English.
