The work you do here directly contributes to Europe’s technological independence.

• Develop, implement, and integrate advanced numerical methods into Hypersonica’s software frameworks to improve model fidelity, robustness, and performance.
• Design and optimise numerical algorithms for challenging multiphysics problems relevant to hypersonic systems.
• Work closely with software, simulation, structures, aerodynamics, and GNC teams to translate mathematical models into production-quality code.
• Improve the stability, accuracy, and computational efficiency of existing solvers and simulation tools.
• Validate numerical methods against analytical solutions, benchmark problems, test data, and flight results where available.
• Take ownership of numerical quality, including convergence behaviour, error control, and performance scaling.
• Contribute to architectural decisions around solver frameworks, libraries, and long-term numerical strategy.

• A numerical methods specialist with 4+ years’ experience (or equivalent PhD-level depth) in computational physics, applied mathematics, or engineering.
• Deeply grounded in advanced numerical schemes (e.g. FVM, Riemann solvers, implicit methods) and comfortable engaging with current research literature.
• Someone who cares about numerical correctness — convergence, stability, error behaviour — not just producing results.
• Experienced turning theory into production-quality code, with an instinct for robustness and long-term maintainability.
• Fluent in C++, with working proficiency in Python for analysis, tooling, or prototyping.
• Comfortable validating models against benchmarks, experiments, and real-world data, and challenging assumptions when results diverge.
• Able to reason across physics, numerics, and software constraints, not treating them as separate problems.
• Motivated by building core simulation capability from first principles in a small team where numerical quality directly impacts flight decisions.
