R&D Engineer - Fusion Power Plant

Your responsibilities
- Develop fusion vacuum power plant concepts (reactor systems, vacuum systems, molten salt loops, tritium recovery systems, target injection and tracking systems, ...)
- Perform analytical calculations and numerical simulations (thermal, mechanical, CFD, neutronics, radiation, magnetic fields, multiphysics, ...)
- Expand and maintain our calculation and simulation software portfolio
- Design and execute experiments (in-house and at external facilities) to validate our calculations and simulations
- Interact and closely collaborate with our theoretical physics and laser department
- Interact with external service providers (simulations and experiments)
- A degree in Engineering, Physics, Aerospace or similar
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience (nuclear engineering, power plant engineering, aerospace or similar)
- Experience with INVENTOR / VAULT or similar CAD / PDM system
- Experience with CFD software (e.g. ANSYS Fluent)
- Experience with multiphysics software (e.g. COMSOL)
- Experience with radiation and particle transport simulation software (e.g. FLUKA, GEANT4)
- Knowledge of industry relevant codes and standards
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g. KTA 1401, ISO 9001 or similar)
- Excellent communication skills in English and a structured working style
- A structured process based working style
- A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability and can-do attitude
- Experience in designing steel structures according to EN 1090 EXC3 is a plus
- Communication skills in German
