Lead Electrical Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading renewable energy business in Germany, backed by one of the world’s largest private equity infrastructure funds, with hundreds of billions of assets under management.With over 15 years of project development experience in the German market, the company is entering a significant new growth phase following a major recent investment. As part of this expansion, the electrical engineering division is growing to support the planning and delivery of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects across Germany. Projects are multi-hundred MW BESS.The organisation is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the full electrical scope across utility-scale BESS developments, from early-stage design through to execution and commissioning.Joining the business at this stage offers the opportunity to become part of a stable, well-capitalised platform with a long-term commitment to the German renewable energy market, while also playing a key role in shaping the future growth of the company.Role: Lead Electrical EngineerThe Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading all electrical engineering activities across large-scale BESS projects, ensuring technical excellence throughout the full project lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the electrical engineering scope across utility-scale BESS projectsManage system design, grid connection, and technical compliance activitiesCoordinate internal engineering teams, external consultants, and EPC partnersSupport project development, procurement, construction, and commissioning phasesEnsure compliance with German grid codes and industry standardsReview and approve technical documentation, specifications, and designsProvide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teamsRequirementsStrong experience in utility-scale renewable energy, power infrastructure, or BESS projectsDegree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineExperience delivering projects through the full lifecycleStrong understanding of grid connection and HV electrical systemsAbility to manage multiple stakeholders across complex projectsFluent English required; German language skills beneficialCompensation & LocationSalary range: 85,000 – 140,000 depending on experience and expertisePreferred location: MunichFlexible and remote-friendly working arrangements available across GermanyDiscipline(s): Renewable Energy, OEM and Engineering, Grid and StorageJob type: Permanent
