Principal Engineer (m/f/d) – Post-Silicon Validation / CharacterizationMixed-Signal ASICs Location: MunichOur client is a globally operating technology company developing highly specialized electronic systems and custom ASIC solutions for demanding applications in aerospace & defence, automotive, industrial technology and telecommunications.For their Munich-based ASIC Validation team, we are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer who enjoys working at the interface between silicon, circuit design and advanced measurement technology.This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to understand not only whether an ASIC meets its specifications, but why it behaves the way it does.You will have a direct impact on how complex mixed-signal ASICs are measured, understood and improved after first silicon. If you enjoy moving between the lab, measurement data and circuit design, solving problems where simulation and silicon do not immediately agree, and shaping how characterization is done across an organization, this could be an interesting opportunity.What you will do:Lead and execute post-silicon validation and characterization of complex mixed-signal ASICsDesign and build sophisticated laboratory measurement setups and continuously improve themCharacterize ADCs, DACs and other analog/digital circuit blocksPerform precision measurements on silicon and, where applicable, at wafer levelAnalyze measurement data and correlate silicon results with simulation and circuit designInvestigate unexpected silicon behavior and drive debugging and root-cause analysisWork closely with ASIC designers and other technical stakeholders to turn measurement results into actionable design insightsDevelop new measurement methodologies, automation approaches and characterization standardsUse Python, MATLAB or similar tools to automate measurements and analyze large datasetsProvide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineersWhat you bring:Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, Microelectronics or a comparable disciplineSeveral years of hands-on experience in ASIC/IC characterization, post-silicon validation or semiconductor measurementStrong understanding of mixed-signal circuits, particularly ADCs, DACs and related interfacesExtensive practical experience with laboratory measurements and test equipmentExperience with oscilloscopes, waveform generators, source-measure units and other precision measurement equipmentGood programming skills in Python, MATLAB or similar environments for test automation and data analysisExperience with high-speed, RF or signal-integrity measurements is an advantageStrong analytical skills and the ability to systematically investigate complex technical problemsA high degree of independence, ownership and technical curiosityFluent English; German is a plus
