Senior AI Platform Engineer (f/m/x)

As a Senior AI Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the Data & AI transformation at the BMW Group by developing state-of-the-art AI platform solutions to train, run, and continuously improve tailored AI models for our connected vehicles all around the world.

What awaits you?

• You build and operate AI platforms for data pipelines, training, deployment, and inference.
• You optimise for best-in-class AI models, employing suitable ML and LLM approaches.
• You take technical leadership and ownership, from architecture across teams to mentoring engineers towards operational excellence of AI-based systems.
• You analyse stakeholder requirements and translate them into scalable AI platform features that enable hundreds of teams.
• You ensure reliability, performance, and cost-efficient operation of AI-based systems.
• You develop solutions for efficient interoperability and load distribution between in-vehicle and cloud platforms.
• You create data and context management solutions to power personalised, customer-centric AI experiences.

What should you bring along?

• A university degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a comparable qualification.
• At least five years of professional experience in (AI) platform engineering, AI training and inference, or AI tooling.
• A track record of successfully leading and implementing large and complex technical AI solutions in cloud or edge devices.
• Experience with AI solutions on the edge or enthusiasm to transfer your knowledge to the in-vehicle domain.
• Hands-on experience in machine learning or generative AI and proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Node.js/Nest.js, Java/Kotlin, or Go, as well as API technologies.
• A deep understanding of cloud architectures (mainly AWS), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and (ML)Ops of scalable cloud services.
• Very good written and spoken English skills. Knowledge of German, both written and spoken, is an advantage.
