(Lead) Product Manager (m/f/d)
The role
Build the Product Org. Define the Process. Scale the Vision.
You are not looking for a role where you just inherit a backlog and keep the lights on. You are looking for a 0-to-1 challenge .
At UniteLabs, we are building the operating system for the modern lab—connecting hardware, software, and AI to accelerate life science R&D. We are looking for a Lead Product Manager (m/f/d) to take the reins of our product function.
Your mandate is two-fold: Get in the trenches to ship complex B2B software today, and build the product engine (processes, culture, and team) that will power our growth tomorrow.
Why you'll love this role
- Architect the "How": We have a strong vision. We need you to implement the product discovery, prioritization, and delivery processes that turn that vision into reality.
- Player-Coach Trajectory: You will start as an individual contributor handling complex workflows. As we grow, you will hire, mentor, and lead the product team.
- Complex B2B Environment: This isn't a simple CRUD app. You are solving hard problems involving hardware integration, distributed systems, and scientific data.
Your mission
1. The "Player": Execute in the Trenches
- Own the roadmap: Translate high-level business goals into concrete, shippable features. You will write the specs, manage the trade-offs, and own the release.
- Deep Discovery: Get in front of scientists and engineers in biotech and pharma. Understand their pain points better than they do and translate that into technical requirements.
- Ship technical products: Work side-by-side with engineering on API designs, SDKs, and automation workflows.
- Implement Process from Scratch: You will professionalize our product operations. Whether it’s moving us to Shape Up, refining Scrum, or setting up product analytics—you define how we build.
- Bridge the Gaps: Establish clear communication channels between Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering. Stop the silos before they start.
- Data-Driven Culture: Move us from intuition-based decisions to evidence-based strategy by implementing feedback loops and usage tracking.
- Hire and Mentor: As we hit our milestones, you will identify the gaps in the team and lead the hiring of future PMs and Designers.
- Set the Standard: Define what "great" looks like for product management at UniteLabs, from the quality of a user story to the depth of a strategy doc.
Your profile
- Proven Builder: You have taken a product from a messy MVP to a scalable solution. You know what breaks when a company grows and how to fix it.
- Experience: You have likely been a Senior PM, a Group PM, or a Head of Product at an early-stage B2B startup.
- Process Architect: You have successfully implemented product management frameworks in a chaotic environment.
- Technical Fluency: You are comfortable debating API structures, data models, and integration strategies with Senior Engineers.
- B2B / Enterprise DNA: You understand complex stakeholder maps, long sales cycles, and the difference between a "user" and a "buyer."
Nice to have
- Experience with lab equipment, lab information systems, or industrial automation standards.
- Background in enterprise‑grade solutions with requirements around reliability, compliance, or validation (e.g. GxP‑adjacent).
- Exposure to AI‑driven workflows, scheduling, or optimization.
About UniteLabs
UniteLabs is building an Operating System for the future of AI-driven research– connecting hardware and software across vendor boundaries to speed up life science R&D. Our API‑first services and Python libraries connect lab instruments to cloud systems, enabling autonomous, AI‑ready workflows where every action and data point is defined as code.
From biotech and pharma to chemistry and food, our customers use UniteLabs to run more experiments, collect better data, and move faster.
As one of our early team members, you’ll have a large influence on what we build, how we build it, and how we work as a team. You’ll grow into broader product leadership or deep domain expert roles as we scale.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- High product impact: Your work directly accelerates drug discovery and scientific breakthroughs.
- Authority : You aren't just a ticket pusher. You are a key strategic partner to the founders.
- Team of builders: Work with ambitious engineers and automation experts in a transparent, high‑ownership culture.
- Flexible, supportive environment: Remote‑friendly with an office at WERK1 in Munich; competitive package with growth potential, equipment of your choice, and an annual productivity budget.
- Backed to scale: We are VC-funded and backing you to build a world-class product organization.
- Culture : A transparent, high-ownership environment where "the best argument wins."
How to apply
We don't need a cover letter. Send us your CV/LinkedIn and a short note answering these three points:
- The Build: Describe a time you built a product or feature from the ground up in a complex environment.
- The Process: Tell us about a specific product process you implemented that fixed a broken workflow.
- The Tech: Give an example of a technical trade-off you had to manage with an engineering lead.
