We are Amazon Robotics and we will give you the tools and support you need to invent with us in ways that are rewarding, fulfilling and fun.Key job responsibilitiesDesign and analyze control systems for robotic actuators and manipulators, including impedance control, force control, and advanced motion control strategiesBuild mathematical models of actuator systems in MATLAB/Simulink to predict performance, conduct trade studies, and validate control approachesDevelop control architecture and analyze system stability, bandwidth, and performanceDesign filters, observers, and signal processing algorithms to address real-world limitations such as sensor noise, bandwidth constraints, backlash, and actuator saturationLead cross-functional design integration across mechanical (motors, gearboxes), electrical (motor controllers, encoders, sensors), and software (control algorithms) domainsIdentify system-level solutions that optimize across components rather than individual parts in isolation, finding creative trade-offs between mechanical design, electrical capability, and control strategyDerive performance requirements and allocations across subsystems to ensure integrated systems meet motion control objectivesConduct trade space studies to evaluate control architecture alternatives, comparing performance, cost, complexity, risk, and timelineLead technical risk assessments and failure mode identification for control systems, including stability margins and fault tolerance analysisGenerate technical artifacts (models, analyses, requirements, test plans) that influence subsystem designs across mechanical, electrical, and software teamsBasic qualifications- Experience developing and testing mechanical robotics equipment- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems- • Experience with system-modeling techniques and data-processing software (Matlab, Python, or similar)- • Deep knowledge of electrical-drives systems- • Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems- • Knowledge of industry standard design tools and methodologies- • 5+ years leading design or architecture of new and existing systems- • Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and test procedures- • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production- Master’s Degree Control Theory, Mathematics, Robotics, or similar.Preferred qualification - Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations- Experience in the Quality Assurance/testing domainAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
