Engineering Manager (Tech Platform) - Munich

As an Engineering Manager (Tech Platform) , you will lead and grow a cross-functional platform engineering team in Munich, responsible for building the technical foundations that enable our product teams to deliver quickly and reliably. You will drive the development of scalable platform capabilities, shared services and infrastructure that support the evolution of our ERP platform.

Your mission

• Lead and mentor a cross-functional platform engineering team, fostering ownership, clarity and continuous improvement

• Drive engineering execution and delivery, aligning platform capabilities and technical priorities with product needs and overall business strategy

• Provide strong technical leadership, guiding architecture decisions, scalable system design and best practices across APIs, data platforms and system integrations

• Ensure engineering excellence through strong development practices, code quality standards, testing discipline and reliable release processes

• Develop a high-performing team culture through coaching, hiring, performance feedback and continuous learning

• Build a strong “one-team” culture together with Product, ensuring close collaboration, shared ownership and fast decision-making

• Oversee the design and evolution of our core platform components, supporting product teams with scalable infrastructure and reusable services across our stack (Java/Spring, React, AWS)

• Work closely with product and business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate complex requirements into reliable, platform-level solutions

• Drive technical innovation and R&D initiatives such as OCR, automated bank matching and workflow automation

• Ensure platform scalability, reliability and developer productivity, enabling product teams to build and deliver features efficiently

Your profile

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong expertise in Java backend development (Spring or JEE) and experience working with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue

• 4+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams, mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement

• Strong technical background in designing scalable systems, including APIs, distributed services, data storage (SQL/NoSQL) and system integrations

• Experience building and evolving platform capabilities or shared infrastructure, enabling product teams to develop and operate software efficiently

• Solid understanding of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, cloud environments and platform reliability

• Strong commitment to engineering excellence, including testing strategies (BDD/TDD), maintainable architectures and clean code principles

• Ability to understand product requirements and business strategy, translating complex workflows into scalable technical and platform solutions

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, working closely with Product, Design and business stakeholders

• Passion for mentoring engineers and building strong teams, supporting career growth while improving engineering practices and technical decision-making

Nice to have

• Previous experience in a startup or scale-up environment

• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes, Terraform or AWS

• Experience working on platform, infrastructure or developer productivity teams

• Experience improving agile development processes or collaborating closely with Product Managers

• Exposure to data-heavy systems, workflow automation platforms or fintech systems
