Intern LLM Routing & Model Orchestration (f/m/x)

Our team at the BMW Group industrializes emerging technologies for manufacturing and advances the digital transformation of the company. Here, you will support a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of generative AI, focusing on LLM routing and innovative solutions for manufacturing.

What awaits you?

• You will support investigating how different inputs are represented within the internal states of large language models.
• Furthermore, you help to examine how these representations differ across various large language models.
• In addition, you contribute to analyzing how representation differences affect routing performance across different routing implementations.
• Moreover, you will assist in utilizing these representations to route between language models, focusing on reasoning models of varied sizes and capabilities.
• You will help to evaluate the impact of different routing approaches on inference speed and answer quality.

What should you bring along?

• Studies in computer science, physics, mathematics or a related field.
• Solid understanding of machine learning principles, generative AI and standard frameworks.
• Experience with large language models.
• Proficient in Python and GitHub; experience with vLLM or similar frameworks is a plus.
• Knowledge about LLM training on GPU clusters is a plus.
• Effective communication skills in English; German is a plus.
