Aviation Data Analyst - Working Student

✈ The challenge: While aircraft and airlines generate and collect massive amounts of data, this data is hardly aggregated and leveraged in the industry. As a result, decisions are often based on incomplete or even falsely interpreted data - leading to sub-optimal outcomes: financial losses and unnecessary CO2 emissions.

Our solution: At Skailark we help industry stakeholders make better-informed decisions and perform better financially and environmentally. At the heart of everything we do is a digital twin of the global aviation market. We model every seat on every flight of every airline with every aircraft. We estimate each gallon of fuel consumed and ton of CO2 emitted, how much an airline paid for each aircraft, we know the day when each component needs to undergo maintenance, how many hours each pilot sits in the cockpit, and so on… Current customers include American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair & Transavia, among others.

The role: Aviation Data Analyst - Working Student (d/f/m)

Shape our digital twin product and work with real-world aviation data to generate exciting insights that make a difference.

Tasks

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement data models and algorithms/workflows to improve our aviation digital twin. For example, model the onboard (food & drinks) costs of each flight bottom-up. Or refine our fuel model that calculates how much fuel is needed on each flight in the world.
• Analyze and interpret large volumes of aviation-related data from multiple sources.
• Build data pipelines and databases for effective data modeling and updating.
• Work with the product team to help shape our products for our aviation clients with your ideas.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in aviation data analytics.

Requirements

Requirements:

• Smart and structured mind.
• Ability to work independently with a ‘getting things done’ attitude.
• Proven expertise in data wrangling, manipulation, and analysis, with hands-on experience in tools or programming languages such as Excel, Alteryx, Python, SQL or similar technologies is a strong plus (but not a must).
• Experience with aviation data or knowledge of the aviation industry is a plus (but not a must).
• Experience in a business consultancy is a plus (but not a must).
• Regularly coming to the office in Munich is required.
• A valid European Union work permit is required.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English (no German required).
