Chief Telecom Network Engineer

Lynk is looking for a Chief Telecom Network Engineer to define the network orchestration architecture for our D2D constellation. This role owns the architectural blueprint: traffic routing logic, resource management strategy, the interfaces between orchestration components and the satellite payload, gateways, device layer, and operations systems, and the control and data plane specifications that follow from them.

This is an architecture role that stays close to the code. We expect the lead to prototype the routing algorithms, resource allocation schemes, and anything where the design decision can't be made confidently on paper.

Core Responsibilities:

• Development and satisfaction of the Software Requirements Specification for each phase of deployment for the Lynk satellite network;
• Define and own the end-to-end network orchestration architecture for the constellation, covering traffic routing logic, resource management, and the control and data plane specifications that follow from it;
• Define the interfaces between orchestration components and the satellite payload, gateways, device layer, and ground operations systems, including data models and protocol assumptions;
• Derive orchestration and routing requirements from the mission design baseline, target use cases, and expected traffic patterns;
• Define interfaces between network orchestration components and the satellite payload, gateways, device layer, and ground operations systems, including data models and protocol assumptions;
• Review implementation work, set engineering standards for the orchestration codebase, and provide technical direction to the network engineering team.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree (or better) in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field;
• At least 10+ years of experience with telecommunications software implementing GSM and/or LTE protocols;
• Strong understanding of all aspects related to telecommunications network implementation, including; software design and test, hardware specification, configuration management of HW and SW, System Provisioning, Billing and roamer interface, etc.;
• Previous hands on experience with Mobile Network operations;
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications protocols, RF communications, and multiple access methods: LTE, EDGE, GPRS, HSPA, GSM, CDMA, TDMA, FDMA etc.;
• Strong knowledge of all layers (user and control plane) of cellular network infrastructure elements, including RAN and Core network signaling (e.g. HSS, HLR, VLR, AuC, MME, EPC, eNB, S-GW, P-GW, etc.);
• Understanding of software defined radio systems including Receiver architectures, Software channelization, Modulation/demodulation techniques, Spectral analysis, Error correcting codes is a plus;
• Demonstrated experience working with multiple programming languages (C, C++, Python), operating systems, and development environments.
