The Medical Genetics Center is a specialist practice and accredited laboratory for human genetics in Munich. Founded in 2000, MGZ is one of the leading providers in the field of medical human genetics in Germany with its team of 27 medical doctors and more than 220 employees.

Your tasks

• Responsible for managing, investigating and implementing novel diagnostics methods
• Responsible for independent, as well as team-based research, testing and validation of methods to be implemented in the routine diagnostic testing

Your profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pathology, molecular genetics or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in management of scientific projects with a focus on human genetics
• In depth experience with validation processes for technologies used to analyze OMICS data
• Practical and theoretical expertise in molecular genetic diagnostics processes
• Practical and theoretical expertise in bioinformatic analysis and interpretation tools for OMICS data (workflows, pipelines, genome browsers)
• Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology
• Detailed understanding of different DNA and RNA sequencing technologies (NGS, Nanopore or HiFi Sequencing)
• Strong theoretical knowledge of genetics (genome structure, modes of inheritance)
• Excellent communication & writing skills, personnel management
• Working knowledge of sequencing data processing and analysis methodology (mapping, variant calling, data visualization, interpretation)
• Additional knowledge in biochemistry and cell biology
• Independent and proactive action to direct method and procedure for problem resolution.
• Fluent in German and English
