Head of Product Design

About the Role

This role leads design for an AI-native procurement platform that helps large industrial buyers make smarter, more confident cost decisions. You'll build and lead a team of ~4 product designers inside a fast-growing product organization, defining the interaction paradigms and systems that let AI agents execute complex procurement workflows while humans supervise and steer. The work has direct, measurable impact on customer profitability.

What You'll Do

• Define how humans and AI agents collaborate across the product, evolving a screen-first experience into an agent-native one.

• Create the interaction paradigm for agent-driven procurement workflows — covering supervision, exception handling, and buyer control.

• Develop mental models, UI patterns, and frameworks that make complex procurement decisions legible and trustworthy for non-analyst users.

• Translate technical procurement concepts (should-costing, raw material indices, contract leakage) into clear, actionable UX.

• Own and evolve the design system and component architecture to support agent-driven development and rapid iteration.

• Hire, build, and lead the design team, setting standards for craft, speed, and strategic impact.

• Establish design as a strategic partner in the product trio alongside product and engineering.

• Implement UX research best practices and champion real user problems across the company.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years in product design with 2+ years leading design teams at high-growth technology companies known for design excellence.

• Proven experience hiring, building, and leading a design team (~4 designers) and establishing team processes.

• Hands-on experience running a UX research program end-to-end: planning, recruiting, conducting studies, and synthesizing insights.

• Deep experience designing data-heavy, workflow-driven enterprise products and making information density work for users.

• Demonstrated experience in enterprise or complex B2B procurement UX, including familiarity with should-costing and contract leakage concepts.

• Strong systems thinking — designing in frameworks and patterns, not just individual screens.

• Genuine fluency with AI as a design material, with a clear point of view on LLMs, agents, and automation.

• Able to move fluidly between strategic leadership and hands-on craft.

• Fluent in English; German is a plus but not required.
